Unit History
1948 - The Sea Cadet Corps was formed.
Mini Knowledge : Can you imagine us being so small at that time? There was only one unit from the Junior technical school until 1964 where we expanded.
1965 - MOE launch an expansion scheme.
Mini Knowledge : Three Sea Training Centre were built by 1971.
1974 - Full time Officers deployed at HQ NCC. MTT was also formed in Training Centres. However, there was no MTT in Sea Training Centres (STC)
Mini Knowledge : MTT stands for Mobile Training Team.
At That Time
There were three STC :
PPSTC - Pasir Panjang STC
SSTC - Sembawang STC
KSTC - Kallang STC
1981 - 700 cadets in three sea training centres.
1982 - Presentation of the NCC (Sea) Banner
1988 - Formation of Sea Girls Unit at KSTC.
1994 - PPSTC closed down due to cost cutting measures and a losing sea front.
Mini Knowledge : Its cadets was moved to KSTC.
1996 - Introduction of school-based units to the sea element.
Mini Knowledge : Why? To give more accountability to school principals and to permit mixed units.
1998 - Inauguration of RSN - NCC Badge.
Mini Knowledge : That how the specialist's badge came from.
1999 - Formation of Singapore Polytechnic NCC (Sea) Club
2001 - Phasing out of centre-units.Which includes RSS Endurance and RSS Excellence.
Mini Knowledge : Only RSS Dauntless (Girls Unit) remains status quo.
2002 - Presently there are more then 1900 NCC Sea cadets and counting!
